It’s Thursday so that means it is Read for Free day! Hey, it’s almost the end of week, you don’t have the extra money for a book and sometimes you just want to read for you and not worry about having to do a review.

I got the following three free romance books for Kindle on Amazon.

~ FEATURED BOOK ~

Full Exposure1. Full Exposure by Amy Jo Cousins
Genre: Contemporary Romance, LGBT, M/M Romance

There’s more than one way to be a rock star…

Evan Pak is a card-carrying geek (he even has the job to prove it), but when his photographer brother invites him to tag along on a photo shoot with rock star Riley Flood, he figures it will be two days of ogling and eye-rolling and nothing more. But the reckless bad boy is nothing like he expected, and Evan is mesmerized by the mix of cocky and sweet he sees in Riley. When a spontaneous idea ends with Evan stripping down under the hot lights for an intimate portrait for Riley’s next album cover, Evan is absolutely sure their connection won’t end when the lights are turned off. Especially since Riley can’t seem to keep his hands off the tattoos Evan hides under his clothes.

Even a spoiled rock star wants to give up control sometimes, if only for a weekend. The world is full of people who want things from Riley and the demands on him never stop. Evan knows exactly how to turn off the noise in Riley’s head and it starts by putting him on his knees.

Together, they will push each other higher and farther than either one of them have ever gone before. It’s easy to take risks when there’s a time limit on the game. But when their time is up, what comes next if they don’t want the game to end?

*This story is a product of Don’t Read in the Closet 2015 ~ Love is an Open Road event sponsored by the Goodreads M/M Romance Group.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I actually read this already. I didn’t write a full review, but here’s what I have to say about it.

I believe that one of the ways to combat racial stereotypes in romance books is by showing that people of color are human beings and not just scenery. I loved this story because the narrator Evan isn’t biracial; he’s a Korean American. He feels disconnected from his Korean heritage; this disconnect is a relevant issue in the Asian American community due to the generation gap, especially if our parents immigrated to the U.S. and we were born here.

However, Evan isn’t ashamed of his Korean heritage. The tattoo on his back is a Korean Diamond Pine tree: “a gesture toward the heritage from which he mostly felt disconnected.” At the same time, he has strong family values, and lives close to home so that he can take care of his dad. Though Evan works as a software consultant, his job doesn’t define him. He’s gay, and with that massive tattoo, he can’t hide from Riley that he’s a little bit of a bad boy, a “secret rocker boy,” as Riley calls him.

Contrary to popular stereotypes about Asian males, Evan isn’t passive and submissive. In fact, he’s a top. And he doesn’t have a small d***. The conflict in this story is Evan’s reluctance to pursue a relationship with Riley because of his family obligations and because he feels they come from two different worlds. Since Riley is a huge rock star and always on the road, Evan doesn’t think they can make it work. Though Riley pursues Evan, Evan pushes him away. But when Evan realizes that Riley has real feelings for him, that he messed up, he has to go the distance to win Riley back.

I loved the writer’s honest and expressive writing style, the sexiness of her characters, and the dreaminess of their romance. The story had a sort of star-crossed lovers feel to it, like a fairytale. I fell in love with this couple and would have loved a full-length novel, but the story is so good already the way it is.

I guess I wrote a full review, anyway. LOL.

      1. Lol. The wording is nice! Just a little more tweaking almost there 🙂 this is why I don’t do graphics. It feels like a lot of work to me and gets so confusing.
